Then our Beginner classes are for you! This runs as a 5 week course and is for those who have not yet learned 8-count or whose 8-count needs more time and practice.  Beginner classes are progressive (each week builds on the previous week) so for maximum benefit we recommend you attend all weeks. No prior experience or partner required.  $680 full course / Drop in $200 (no drop ins after week 2). Full time students with ID: $400 full course. It doesn't matter whether you take Beginner: Swingouts or Beginner: Charleston first, both start at the same level.
* Beginners must complete both Swingout and Charleston classes before moving up to Pre-Intermediate.   Leads can repeat the same Beginner classes (Swingout or Charleston) for FREE!
Beginner:
6-counts & Charleston

Beginner: Swingouts Learn Lindy Hop 8-count rhythm, Swingouts and Circle. Progress to basic Swingout variations (eg. with inside and outside turns).  We teach you to lead, follow, stretch, connect and use motion, movement and momentum to create the dynamics of Lindy Hop.

Pre-Intermediate: Transitions (4 weeks)
Tuesdays Feb 21,28,Mar 6,13. 7.30-8.30pm - with Sergey & Karen L  sign up below
Now you have taken both Beginner Charleston and Swingout classes, and you have been learning 6-count patterns at our free lessons at Grappa's. How do you put all of them together? We'll show you how! At the end of this course, you should be mixing all the material you learned so far and able to comfortably social dance to songs at slow, medium and medium-fast tempos.  Beginners must complete both Beginner: Charleston and Beginner: Swingouts courses before taking Pre-Intermediate.  You will have missed no more than 1 class of the Beginner: Swingouts course. $500 full course (4 classes)/ Drop in $150. Full time students with ID: $400 full course.

Pre-Intermediate: Technique (4 weeks)
Tuesdays Jan 10,17,31, Feb 7. 7.30pm-8.30pm with Sergey & Karen T drop ins welcome
Believe it or not, the best part about this dance is that it feels good to do.  Moves are important, yes - they are fun and challenging and make you feel fluent. If you think of the dance as a language, moves are the words. Technique is the grammar. Words are not so useful if you don’t know how to string them together. You can shout all the best, really complicated ones all day long, and go ahead. But without some kind of grammar, you’ll only seem crazy. Here we will teach you the key to unlocking those moves: pulse, frame, partner matching, stretch and compression, flow and continuous motion, and much more.

Focus Workshops

Feb 14, 7.30-8.30pm - Sweetheart Swing with Magnar & Lillian

Full time students with ID: $100.

Mar 20, 7.30-8.30pm - Big Apple I/ Tranky Doo with Karen T (Intermediate)
