Housing & Hospitality

What is Hosting?
Hosting and being hosted is an honored tradition in lindy exchanges. It’s part of the hospitality and exchange spirit of the event for locals to offer a bed (or mattress or airbed or couch) to a visitor and when you visit their city, they can return the favor! Hosting is a great way to meet great people in the global swing family.

Why Host?

Tips For Hosts and Guests:
Ø          Hosts and guests should contact each other to introduce yourself before HKLX, and exchange contact phone numbers and other contact points, arrival/departure schedules, directions, etc.
Ø          All hosts need to offer is a place to sleep, somewhere to wash and tips to get around.  Hosts aren’t expected to host their guests for longer than HKLX itself, though if they wish to do so, it’s best to discuss this in advance.
Ø          Guests should clean up after themselves, respect their host’s privacy, and it’s nice to give your host a small present or buy them a couple of drinks as a ‘thank you’.

Housing is limited and availability is not guaranteed.

UPDATE: We sent out housing assignments on 3 November. If you requested housing but haven't received an assignment by email, something is wrong - please contact hkswings@gmail.com .

Tip from Gene: Do an online search for inexpensive and suitable housing at guesthouses and backpackers hotels in both Mirador and Chungking Mansions in Tsim Sha Tsui. At Man Hing Lung Hotel in Mirador Mansion rooms run from HK$200-$350 a night, with or without private bath, AC, small but clean and adequate, and centrally located in TST on Nathan Road and right above the TST MTR stop. And both mansions are next door to each other.   Both places may give some people are willies by appearance but the people around there are harmless and both places are relatively safe. Especially in Mirador mansion where security is 24/7.
